case study
VAN is the moniker of LA-based pop/indie/EDM artist Van Maximilian Carlson. His open-hearted melodies and cinematic soundscape are inspired by his background in film, as well as a love of blending disparate genres to create a sound that is as unexpected as it is up-lifting.
Born into an artistic family, VAN spent several years learning piano and guitar before discovering his latent love of electronic music. He immersed himself in style, taking cues from the eclecticism of 2000’s indie as well as the world-conquering sounds of dance music to form VAN.
Having spent the last year working diligently in the studio, he is now preparing to introduce his music to the world.

Our strategy
Indiependency believes that VAN is truly a unique artist. His captivating sounds in electronic music along with his respectable background in film gives him a rare edge that must be strategically paired. Taking this into account, we decided to design his logo that best represented VAN, pitch him to labels that would understand how to best utilize their assets to display VAN’s talents.
